Thanksgiving Joy & Small Groups
God tells us, in EVERYTHING give thanks; for this is the will of Him in Christ Jesus for us. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)
The Destiny Thanksgiving Outreach 2011 was a blessing to our church family. We rallied together to prepare and provide Thanksgiving baskets to those in our community who were less fortunate this Thanksgiving Holiday.
40 baskets were prepared for 40 families from member donations. Additionally, 19 Small Groups prepared 19 baskets for our Senior Citizen community. On Saturday, November 19th, the Missions Team prepped for delivery of the baskets. Leaders from both the Missions Team and Small Groups delivered the baskets to each home in time for Thanksgiving.
The appreciation of God’s gifts to His people did not go unnoticed.
Expressions of gratitude ranged from tears of joy to thank you cards. Also given were accolades for the organization of all logistics to simply the warmth and love felt by those who were involved.
We served our God and His people with a servant’s heart. For God reminds us, “… Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, "How can I help?" Romans 15:2 (MSG)
